Whether this is your very first baby (or babies!) or your fifth, you deserve to have support when you come home with your new bundle of joy! Oftentimes, people are familiar with the term “Baby Nurse”, or “Night Nurse”, but a postpartum doula is more than that; we are like your fairy godmother- without the judgement. Years ago, when a new baby was born the village rallied around and helped the new family. Since this so rarely happens these days, we want to be your village. Whether your family came about by adoption, surrogacy, or a birthing parent, we care for the whole family, whether this means making lunch for your toddler, caring for the baby while the tired new parents nap, or washing a sink full of bottles. We want to help you figure out your parenting style, to help you find what works best for your family and your lifestyle. Our support is flexible and individualized: just as no two families are alike, no two shifts are alike.

Daytime Support
The “Fourth Trimester” can feel a little overwhelming! There are so many new things to learn, including your brand new baby. Imagine that there is someone who can help with household tasks, hold your baby while you shower, and teach you how to bathe your slippery little newborn. Your postpartum doula is just that; She will come to your home and answer ALL of your questions about baby care, empty your dishwasher and even make you some soup!
Overnight Care
Bringing a new baby into the world is exhausting! A kind of exhaustion you have never felt before. Sometimes all you really need is a good night’s sleep! We can help with that. Your doula will care for your infant while you rest, bringing the baby to you for nursing if you desire, or giving bottles overnight. When you wake up in the morning you will feel not only refreshed, but your home will be tidy, and you may even find a folded basket of laundry!
Why Do You Need A Postpartum Doula?
The world over, brand new mothers are cherished, and doted on after they give birth. This allows them to focus solely on their new baby and their recovery. The Baby Mavens believe that all new mothers- and fathers too, deserve this kind of support. We leave our judgment at the door, and provide personalized care to each and every family. A postpartum doula can take care of mom while she heals, she can answer dad’s questions, help make lunch for your toddler, and sometimes- we even walk your dog!
