*Birth Doula *Childbirth Educator

My passion for birth work started with the births of my own children. I found a deep sense of accomplishment and joy when my first child was born, and knew that I wanted to help open a similar space for others to encounter those feelings. After listening to many friends’ and family members’ birth stories, I also knew that the current maternal care establishment was not generally providing that space. There was work to be done!

I believe in the capability of our bodies to labor and birth, I respect that bringing a child into the world has the capacity to be a rite of passage emotionally, and that perspective will ultimately serve the wider goal of not only a healthy baby, but a healthy family. Feeling honored in the birthing space will also help build a person’s confidence in the sometimes-difficult early days of their parenting journey. After two more births (one a home birth!), I chose to become a birth educator and doula.

I want to encourage you to feel empowered, in tune with your body, and to have agency over your birth and your choices. Let’s open the door for you and your new family to joy, connection, and love. Providing birthing people with education, physical comfort, emotional support, and the space to feel heard feeds my passion for being a doula! I would be honored to be a part of your birth team.

At Home with Susanna

I’m certified as a childbirth educator and doula, I’m a mother of three, and I hold degrees in English and Classical Acting. I know—it’s quite a diverse skill set—that happens to lend itself quite well to birth work! When I’m not busy helping families envision and realize their ideal births, I’m at home with my husband and three kids (and our black cat, Jango). I love living on the North Shore, and occasionally even blog about it! I can be found on the beach with my family, exploring Salem, or at one of the many reservations and hiking trails nearby. My passion for performance and background in theatre also keeps me busy (although nowadays as an audience
