*Newborn Care Specialist
I lead with my heart in all that I do. I have an absolute passion for newborns! As soon as my third and final son was out of the infant stage, I knew I needed to pursue a career which involved newborns so I could continue to enjoy the tiniest miracles. It is the most magical time for new parents and it is also the most challenging time. My hope is that my work as a postpartum doula will make parents feel empowered, cared for without judgement and help to give them opportunity to embrace the new joy and chaos that a new baby brings into their lives.
Over my career, I have been a nanny for several families and have taught elementary school for over ten years. I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and truly loved the connection with my students and families while teaching. As a postpartum doula, I am able to carry on my desire to teach and serve others. My vast personal experiences have allowed me to understand a variety of emotions that may contribute to a family's postpartum experience. I am a motherless mother, struggled with secondary infertility, became pregnant with fertility treatments, had a challenging first birth and lived with postpartum anxiety. My desire is to be a safe place for all of the families that I spend time with, allowing an open space for emotions that come with being new (or new again) parents.
At Home with Lauren
Family has been my joy, my focus, my passion, my devotion. I have 4 amazing children who are grown now, but still my joy! And I also have a new grandchild to bring even more love to the family. I have raised honey bees, bred Golden Retrievers, and perfected the chocolate chip cookie. My happy place is in the mountains and in nature; I have hiked all 48 of the 4,000 foot mountains in NH, and I enjoy backpacking and section-hiking the Appalachian Trail - hiking 110 miles through the Shenandoah National Forest last spring was the most beautiful!
